Austin Recognized for Good Behavior!

Today I checked my voice mail to find this message from the school regarding our son:

"Hello, This is the principal calling from the school with some good news today! I often ask the teachers to recognize students who go above and beyond our Eagle eyes expectations and Mrs S. brought to me Austin's name. She wrote that 'he is a good friend. He also is a good helper... he keeps us safe by pushing in chairs when we forget. Austin is a wonderful little boy in many ways. But I am so glad he is in our room taking care of us. :)' I just wanted to pass that good news onto you and to thank you and Jeff because we know that that modeling comes from home and we appreciate that. Let Austin know that I called and I will see him today and also let him know that he is being recognized."

In a world where often people only choose to see the negative, it is so refreshing to hear good news like this. :)

Literary Day

If I had to choose a character for Literary Day, it would be to team up with a friend and go as the Sweet Valley Twins, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield.... or Nancy Drew.... or Anne of Green Gables....





But alas, my children are different from me. They chose Garfield and Anakin Skywalker. Alas, my grand ideas will have to remain in my mind. How I would LOVE to dress dear daughter up as Anne!!! Alas, she has yet to read my favorite book series.... How fun would that be? And Austin? He could be Gilbert Blythe!!! Oh, the glory!!!!! But no. Not to be. I must allow my children to be creative on their own and to flourish independently from my wonderful ideas.

Perception

Time may be going at a snail's-pace for me, but I'm certain I won't feel that way once this baby gets here! Then, all of a sudden, time will speed up to warp-speed! Such is life, I'm afraid. Waiting is agonizing. But clinging to a spot that's joyful is impossible. So here's to slow, agonizing waiting for our sweet baby. -And may I lovingly embrace how rapidly the tiny infant becomes the robust toddler. It's all about perception, I am told. But I'm not so sure that's right, because I've seen the fast-forward buttons on my 1980's tape recorder and I wonder if I unwittingly press it in my life from time to time.
